All 144 Sun-sign pairs

Zodiac compatibility chart, all twelve signs.

Seven angles, laid out twelve by twelve.

Find one Sun sign down the left and the other along the top. The cell gives the angle between the two signs — one of the seven classical aspects — and the sign-level score Paired Stars' calculator starts from, between 36 and 93. Trines score highest, quincunxes lowest. Your two exact birth dates can move a pair by up to five points.

Sun-sign compatibility, every sign against every other: the sign-level score, then the aspect. Cells are shaded by family: the harmonious angles, the hard angles, and the opposition between them. The chart is symmetric, so either sign can go first.

How the chart is built

A compatibility chart with 144 cells looks like 144 verdicts. It is really seven, and this one does not hide it. On a twelve-sign wheel the only thing two Sun signs can differ by is how far apart they sit, so every pair is one of seven angles: the same sign (a conjunction), one sign apart (a semi-sextile), two (a sextile), three (a square), four (a trine), five (a quincunx) or six, directly across the wheel (an opposition). Shared element and shared mode are not extra evidence on top of the angle; signs four apart always share an element and signs three apart always share a mode, so both follow from the distance.

Each angle carries its traditional reading and a weight, and that weight is the number in the cell. The trine is the easy angle, the quincunx the one with no element, mode or polarity in common. The bands are the same six labels the calculator shows, cut where its scores actually fall, and they are explained on the method page.

Why your own score can differ from the chart

The chart reads signs; the calculator reads birth dates. Each sign is divided into three faces of about ten days, the decans, and each face answers to a sign of the same element. When you enter two dates, the score keeps 70 per cent of the angle between your signs and takes 30 per cent from the angle between your two faces. That is the whole of the difference, and the "With your faces" column shows how far it reaches: five points at most, and never enough to move a trine below a sextile. It can still carry a pair across a band line — two people of the same sign born in different faces, for instance, read as Natural resonance rather than Strong current.

The calculator also gives a pair its own written reading: the elemental current between you, the friction the angle is known for, and one small experiment to try. Those depend on your actual dates, so they are not in the chart. Enter two birth dates to see them.

What the chart cannot tell you

Every Sun sign holds about one person in twelve, so each cell describes millions of pairs at once, and nothing in it is evidence about yours. The angles are real geometry and the readings are a long tradition; neither is a forecast. If a cell's description seems to fit your relationship anyway, that is worth reading about: it is the Barnum effect. A low number is not a worse pairing. It means less of the relationship runs on shared instinct, so more of it has to be said out loud.

There are no separate pages here for "Aries and Leo" or "Virgo and Pisces". With only seven readings to give, seventy-eight pair pages would repeat the same seven under different names, so the whole chart lives on this one page. For what each angle is and how the tradition reads it, see the seven aspects; for each sign on its own, all twelve signs.
